How-to Tablescape

How-to Tablescape

As a home and wedding stylist I get really excited about tablescapes *sigh* Whether you're planning a small gathering of friends or a grand wedding, tablescapes can absolutely make your event. After planning my own wedding (and working with other amazing planners) I've learned a lot about what makes a tablescape shine.

Here are some of my favorite ideas, inspirations, and tips!

the gathering

Tip: Use varying heights such as candlesticks, terrariums, and wine bottles to add depth and interest on the table

In my own apartment I have no room for a grand dining table, so I've posted a sweet, boho-inspired tablescape you can fit on a tiny table indoor or outdoor! I used what I had on hand and mixed and matched colors, textures, and patterns. I chose blue as the main color as it compliments well with neutrals. I also like to add personal touches such as the elephant trinkets because, if you know anything about me, you know I love elephants!

Tip: Last minute greenery doesn't require a fancy bouquet- use what you got! Terrariums, succulents, and dried flowers are great options. I love terrariums as a centerpieces because they bring color and geometric shapes to a table

Tip: Have fun with place settings, use a blend of bright and solid colors to add dimension to the setting

the wedding

For my backyard bohemian wedding I wanted my guests to feel special, inspired and at home. I used rustic finishes, metallics and glass as my materials, and played with colors such as green, pink and  pops of blue.

See the list below for the vendors and products used.

Tip: Glass bell jars were used for the centerpieces, a similar technique as terrariums, but these add a lot more volume and interest. Smaller vases and candlesticks flow down the rectangular tables to elongate the tablescape.

Tip: Mix and match your chairs! I love blending iron chairs with rustic wood ones to break up the usual monotonous row of chairs. Also, we used tambourines as party favors so our guests could sing along with us in our ceremony!
